Thursday turned out to be another scorcher, with the high temperature reaching 103 degrees at 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. And it may get hotter before it cools down for the night, possibly 104 or 105. Winds have been gusting to about 24 miles per hour.
Storms from the south may also bring scattered lightning to the Treasure Valley and the Owyhees. A red flag warning is in effect through 6 a.m. for the region. That means conditions are ripe for explosive fire growth.
Are we headed into another period of 100-degree temperatures?
Forecasters say no high temperatures through the weekend will be in the low-90s. That's a little cooler than the past couple days, when highs reached 99 on Tuesday and 97 on Wednesday.
