Jennifer F. Hightower is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony injury to child charge after Boise police say an infant she was babysitting suffered a broken jaw earlier this spring.
Boise police say they were contacted about the case in April, a day after it was discovered the child, who is under the age of 1, had a broken jaw. Police did not release many details about the case Thursday but did say they have evidence the injuries occurred when Hightower was watching the baby at a Boise-area home.
Boise police put a safety plan in place in April and began their investigation. Ada County prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for Hightower Wednesday, and Boise Police arrested later that afternoon.
Hightower, who is being held in the jail on a $100,000 bond, will make her initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.
The crime of felony injury to child is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
