Idaho State Police investigators are still trying to figure out what caused a semi trailer full of baking soda to catch fire on Interstate 84 Wednesday night.

No one was injured in the fire but it did cause headaches for drivers, as the westbound lanes of I-84 near the Ada/Elmore counties border were closed for more than 90 minutes to allow fire crews to fight the blaze and then get the truck off the road.

The driver of the semi, 51-year-old Enayat Sarang of Coquitlam, British Columbia, told ISP investigators he pulled his semi over to the side of the road just before 9 p.m. when he noticed a fire near the rear wheels of the trailer. Sarang was able to get out before the fire spread to the rest of the trailer.

The fire was by milepost 76, which is about 3.5 miles east of the Ada County line, according to reports.

Both westbound lanes were closed until about 10:30 p.m. until one lane was opened to traffic.
