Published: July 17, 2012

Police cited 49-year-old Michael Porter for failure to obey a traffic light early Tuesday after witnesses say the cyclist went through a red light without stopping at the Overland Road/Clear Creek Drive intersection in West Boise and hit a car.

Witnesses say Porter hit the car as the driver was trying to make a left-hand turn through the intersection around 7 a.m.

Police say Porter suffered “minor injuries” in the crash and refused medical treatment at the crash site. The driver was not hurt.

The ticket for failure to obey a traffic light is an infraction punishable by a $72 fine.
