Meridian and Nampa fire crews quickly stamped out a grass fire just south of Interstate 84 near Black Cat Road Friday morning and are currently working to put out hot spots.
The fire, which burned about four and one-half acres and produced a significant amount of smoke, was started by construction equipment in the area around 9:30 a.m., according to Meridian fire reports.
The fire moved quickly enough towards homes that fire crews were assigned to structure protection but no buildings caught fire in the blaze.
