Boise police officers and Idaho Power crews responded to downed trees and power lines Sunday evening as a storm with high winds moved through the area.
Firefighters also were called to a few tree and grass fires.
Two large trees went down along with power lines at 15th Avenue and Hill Road, closing the westbound lanes for a bit, according to a tweet by Boise police. A tree fire and downed lines also were reported at Royal Boulevard and Dale Street, near Ann Morrison Park.
By about 7 p.m., almost 3,000 customers in the Treasure Valley were without power. About 1,670 homes and businesses were affected in the area of Veterans Memorial Parkway and State Street. And 1,200 customers were without power between Main Street and University Boulevard, and from Broadway to Americana. About 63 homes in the area of Crestwood Drive off of Glenwood and about 47 homes northeast of Cole Road and Overland Boulevard also were dark.
After 8 p.m., Idaho Power reported outages in various areas around Meridian and additional blackouts in Boise.
Idaho Power said crews were busy responding to calls and working to get power restored as soon as possible.
