Ada County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for public help in identifying two teenagers who used a fake Idaho ID to pawn a bike at a local pawn shop in May.

Detectives say the victim of the identity theft has no idea who the teens are or how they got his private information to create a fake ID.

Surveillance photos taken a Pawn One shop in Garden City on May 29 show the two teenage boys wheeling in what appears to be a red mountain bike — which deputies later figured out was stolen from a home in Hidden Springs the day before.

While that sale was the only one detectives have found associated with that specific fake ID, they are concerned the same teens may have used it before in a similar scam or may have other fake IDs in use.

Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff’s detective Marc Bowman at 577-3704 or Crime Stoppers at 343-2677.
