A team from the College of Idaho won the Peoples Choice Award in the Idaho Statesman Chalk Art Festival Wednesday with a colorful celebration of the upcoming 2012 Summer Games.
The Olympic-themed collage was selected as the favorite by visitors to the eight-hour competition at Ann Morrison Park in Boise.
The daylong Independence Day festivities included music, fireworks, games and a chance for kids to try their hand at chalk art.
A panel of chalk-art judges selected winners from the youth and adult entries. Winners were:
YOUTH CATEGORY:
1st place: Tara Kleffnerfor, for a girl eating ice cream.
2nd place: Cindy Bordenkircher, for the Avengers.
3rd place: Daniel Anecito, for a work showing a broken vintage TV set.
ADULT CATEGORY:
1st place: Danielle Mierzwa, for a howling wolf.
2nd place: Alyssa Cooper, for Day of the Dead.
3rd place: Rachel Dunn, for a peacock and butterfly.
