Spokane outfielder Christopher Garia led off the first inning with a solo homer, and the Indians never gave up that lead in a 4-1 victory over the Hawks on Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Boise manager Mark Johnson was ejected in the eighth inning, so he wasn’t in the dugout when the Hawks scored their lone run in the ninth inning.

Second baseman Stephen Bruno led off the inning by reaching third base, and the next batter, Jeimer Candelario, drove him in with a single up the middle. With two outs and two runners on, outfielder Trey Martin had a chance to tie the game with a home run in his Hawks debut.

Martin, who was hitting .448 with Mesa in the Arizona Summer League before getting called up Friday, grounded out to end the game.
