Idaho wolf pup has been named Boise by caretakers at Busch Gardens

Published: June 28, 2012

The gray wolf pup that was picked up on May 25 near Ketchum by tourists who confused it with a domestic canine has a new home — and a new name.

After DNA tests and a short stint at Zoo Boise, the pup was shipped June 20 to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. Busch Gardens has nine other wolves in its care, including two other pups.

The 8-week-old pup has been named Boise, according to a report Thursday by KBOI-Channel 2.

"Boise has been given a second chance at life thanks to the leadership and support of Idaho Fish and Game, Zoo Boise and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries,” Jay Tacey, zoological manager for Busch Gardens, told KBOI.
