Fires in the West are pulling in crews from around the country. This week, The Denver Post photographed a crew of firefighters from Boise in Fort Collins, Colo., helping fight the High Park Fire.
That fire has burned 100 square miles in the north part of the state and destroyed 191 homes more than any other fire in the states history.
The Boise-area firefighters work for PatRick Environmental Inc., a southern Oregon company that contracts with the federal government to fight fires.
This is a crew doing the hard, hot, grunt work of carving out fire lines. The Post photographer got the firefighters between duties while at the Fort Collins command post.
