Erik Harris was named the 2011-12 Gatorade Idaho Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year on Thursday.
The distance runner who has signed to compete for BYU won 4A state titles in the 800 meters (1:53.86) and 3,200 (9:04.13, state record) and finished second in the 1,600 (4:23.67) in May.
Erik Harris is the best runner ever to come through Twin Falls High School, Twin Falls coach Marty Grindstaff said. While he hates to lose, he is the ultimate good sport when he is beaten, which says a lot about his character.
