Ready to float your boat on the Boise River? Barber Park opening delayed.

Published: June 20, 2012

Summer starts today: But with snow remaining in the mountains, water managers aren’t quite ready to cut back on releases from the Boise River reservoir system this week.

The Boise River is down to about 1,800 cubic feet per second now — a bit too high for safe floating — and snags have been cleared. Floating is legal, though not encouraged, before Barber Park opens.

Temperatures will rise to a high of 96 in Boise Thursday. It will cool off to about 90 Friday and 84 this weekend.

Epley’s is ready to open Barber Park: The raft rental shop usually opens between June 18 and 23, though last year it didn’t open until July 15. Officials said to look for an update next week. Find information at epleys.com/boiselocation.aspx.
