A fund has been set up at Zion's Bank to aid the family of a child who suffered fatal injuries in a car crash in Star Saturday, according to the bishop at the family's church.

Donations are being collected in the name of Alvin Strauss to aid his family in covering medical expenses; contributions may be made at any Zion's Bank.

The 5-year-old died from injuries he suffered in a crash at the intersection of Idaho 16 and Idaho 44. He was in a Dodge Caravan that was waiting at a stoplight Saturday morning. A Ford Explorer slammed into the rear end of the minivan at highway speed, police said. A 7-year-old girl who was in the vehicle suffered serious injuries; her condition has not been made public.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the Ford Explorer. The name of the 41-year-old Star woman has not been released.
