The Oct. 6 football game in Hattiesburg, Miss., will air nationally on Fox Sports Net (Root Sports in Boise) or FX, according to Fox.
The game time has not been set. Fox has reserved time slots for 10 a.m. Mountain on both stations and at 1:30 p.m. on Fox Sports Net.
The Southern Miss announcement leaves one game on the schedule without a TV home the Sept. 29 game at New Mexico. However, that game is expected to be televised.
Boise State has three games slated for ESPN properties this season, five for the NBC Sports Network and two for the CBS Sports Network.
BSU ACADEMICS: The NCAA has honored the football program for its performance for the second straight year. The NCAA announced its Public Recognition Awards on Thursday. The honorees are those teams that finish among the top 10 percent in the nation in their sport based on Academic Progress Rate. The actual APR numbers for 2010-11 will be released Wednesday. The football team was Boise States only award winner. Other football winners included Clemson, Middle Tennessee, Duke, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Rice, Rutgers, Ohio State, Air Force, Miami and Vanderbilt. Boise State is the only team on that list to finish in the top 20 in the final Associated Press Top 25.
BSU TRACK AND FIELD: NCAA decathlon champion Kurt Felix was named the Mountain West Mens Outdoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year on Thursday. TCUs Whitney Gipson, who won the NCAA title in the long jump, won the womens award. Felix will represent Grenada in the Olympics this summer.
BSU GYMNASTICS: The program will rejoin the WAC as an affiliate member in 2012-13. The Broncos spent last season as an independent because the Mountain West doesnt sponsor the sport. The WAC lineup includes Sacramento State, San Jose State, Southern Utah, Denver and Utah State.
