Published: June 12, 2012

A grass fire was ignited at Hubler Airport east of Caldwell Tuesday afternoon after flames from burning trash spread to nearby grass, according to Caldwell Fire Battalion Chief Brad Carico.

The grass fire was reported at about 4:30 p.m. It was initially reported as a structure fire. Middleton Fire responded to provide mutual aid.

Carico said the fire burned in grass under some planes and a truck, but none were damaged. The fire burned less than an acre, and firefighters cleared the scene in about 90 minutes.
