How to help the Fruitland family that ran Dachshund Idaho Rescue before weekend fire

Published: June 12, 2012

A post office box has been set up for a Fruitland family that was displaced after a fire burned the house they were renting.

Fourteen dachshunds died in the fire Saturday. The dogs were cared for as part of Dachshund Idaho Rescue. Four dogs survived the blaze, which is under investigation.

Kathy McCombs sheltered the dogs in the single-wide trailer she lived in with her husband and son. Anyone who would like to help the family may send donations, including checks or gift cards, to: Dachshund Idaho Rescue, P.O. Box 371, Fruitland, ID 83619.

If you would like to reach the family, call McCombs' daughter, Krista, at 541-212-5584.
