The newcomer to Boise Towne Plaza beat out tied second-placers Macys and Kohls (another new store) by 10 votes. Impressive for a store that opened mere weeks ago.
The Seattle-based retailer heard from so many Treasure Valley shoppers over the years that it decided to open a Rack, which carries Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com clearance stuff, as well as direct-from-designer items.
Nordstrom stocked the store with Bronco gear, jeans and athletic wear. But the upscale reliables that Nordstrom is known for including Coach, Michael Kors, Paige denim, Chloe, Versace and Marc Jacobs cycle through the store at prices that are 30 percent to 70 percent off.
The grand opening was one of the companys best-attended. A line of more than 1,000 shoppers snaked around the nearly 40,000-square-foot building. And that was just by 9 a.m.
A company official who was there opening day called it the ultimate treasure hunt. Apparently, the Treasure Valleys fashion- and budget-conscious shoppers agreed.
