Working out has a different meaning for everyone, but people who can grate cheese on their abs or who have never lifted a barbell in their lives can both find activities at the Y.
If its a sport or requires movement, its probably here. Skateboarding, martial arts, engineering, robotics, music, dance, indoor climbing and mountain biking all are available. Racquetball courts, pick-up basketball games, weightlifting and swimming are always favorites, too.
Treasure Valley Family YMCA received the two largest donations in its history in 2011, showing that the community appreciates the efforts of the Y. Those donations, totaling more than $5.5 million, support the Homecourt YMCA in Meridian and Y-Camp at Horsethief Reservoir.
The Homecourt facility in Meridian houses basketball and volleyball courts with a fitness center. The camp, located near Cascade, will use the donation for a main lodge that will accommodate more people and make the site available for year-round activities.
