Big-time brewers and coffee powerhouses, take note — you are not the Treasure Valley’s favorite. The votes say we like our roasts and baristas local.

Boise-based chain Moxie Java keeps people from Meridian to Garden City to Caldwell coming in for a chippy cappuccino and a languid latte. And a bit of casual comfort.

In Kuna, Moxie Java is the coffee shop where everyone knows everyone, said barista Kendra Torrey.

“It’s a homey feel in here,” Torrey says.

Moxie Java offers some departures from typical coffee-shop fare. Torrey’s favorite is the Mango Avalanche smoothie. And in the warmer summer months, customers snap up sweet teas, she says.

“We have lots of regulars,” Torrey says.

Since 2005, Moxie Java International has operated its corporate offices from 4990 W. Chinden Blvd. in Garden City. That’s where the coffee sold at the Moxie Java franchise stores is roasted.

The company opened its first cafe in Boise in 1988 and now has 70 locations across Idaho and the United States.
