Three years in a row? That’s a trend. It looks like the Treasure Valley’s art-house theater is officially king of the movie mountain around these parts.

There’s no doubt that former winner Edwards Cinemas’ multiple locations do waaaaaaaay more business than the humble Flicks. And, yes, the stadium seating, 3D glasses and ear-splitting sound you find at mainstream megaplexes is nice.

But The Flicks has history. And character. And four auditoriums with a fondness for independent, foreign and art films. Oh, and beer. Beer! Did we mention the beer?

The food and drink at The Flicks is somewhat of an underrated phenomenon. Next time you want to do dinner and a movie, do it all at The Flicks. Kick back on the entirely non-smoking patio and order some grub from Rick’s Cafe Americain, which offers salads, burgers, desserts and more. Heck, you may not want to get up to go into the theater. Either way, you’ll understand why The Flicks keeps coming out on top.
