State’s best baseball players square off Saturday

Some of the top high school baseball players from around the state will be in the Treasure Valley this weekend to play in the 2012 Top 40 Showcase Games. The two-game, wooden bat series pits Treasure Valley players against athletes from throughout the state. First pitch is 1:05 p.m. Saturday at Borah High’s Wigle Field. Rosters were assembled based on nominations from coaches statewide. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

State roster

First base: Bo Burrup, Highland. Catcher: Zayne Slotten, Twin Falls; Chris Drury, Pocatello. Pitchers: Bodie Cooper, Pocatello; Colton Draney, Preston; Russ Reber, Bishop Kelly; Andrew Frank, Minico; Adrian Martinez, Glenns Ferry; Kohl Hostert, Bonneville. Middle infield: Jackson Kunz, Burley; Bowen Ogata, Bishop Kelly; Lincoln Clayton, Bonneville. Third base: Teter, Pocatello; Zack Reeder, Post Falls. Outfielders: Casey Merritt, Twin Falls; Tyrel Anderson, Bear Lake; Shay Chandler, Minico.
