Boise State's Kurt Felix leads the decathlon standings after the first day of competition at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

The redshirt senior has 4,187 points after five events, followed by Arkansas' Gunnar Nixon (4,177) and Cornell's Nick Huber (4,065).

Felix finished second in the 100 meters (10.90 seconds), first in the long jump (24 feet, 3.5 inches), 12th in the shot put (42-11), second in the high jump (6-8.75) and seventh in the 400 (48.77).

Thursday marks the final day of the decathlon competition beginning with the 110-meter hurdles at 10:30 a.m. (MT). The 20 remaining competitors will then compete in the discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500 before a national champion is crowned.
