About 60 members of the Idaho Army National Guard left Texas Saturday night aboard charter planes for Afghanistan. The Idaho citizen soldiers had been training in Texas. They'll spend about 10 months in Afghanistan.

They are part of Company A, 1-168th General Support Aviation Battalion based out of Boise’s Gowen Field. The group will be flying and maintaining eight UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, according to a release.

Their mission includes transporting personnel and equipment throughout the Afghanistan combat operations area.
