5A: COEUR D'ALENE VS. LAKE CITY
1 p.m., Cappell Park, Chubbuck
Coeur dAlene (21-5) faces a difficult task in defeating defending state champion Lake City (23-1). Lake City crushed District Three champion Mountain View 9-2, while Coeur dAlene topped Meridian 7-5. Lake City has won 49 of its past 50 games the last loss came this season on March 31 to Meridian.
4A: COLUMBIA VS. SKYVIEW
1 p.m., Twin Falls High
Skyview (21-5-1) demolished Century 15-3 in the semifinals to meet Columbia (18-11) in the 4A final. Columbia lost to Emmett in the state final last year and upset District Three champ Kuna 12-8 after beating Rigby in the first round. Columbia and Skyview last played in the District Three semifinals on May 8, when Skyview won 4-3 with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
3A: FRUITLAND VS. HOMEDALE
2 p.m., Ramsey Park, Coeur d'Alene
District Three teams Fruitland (20-6) and Homedale (21-7) proved they are the two best teams by far in the 3A state tournament by annihilating their opponents in Fridays opening action. Fruitland defeated Priest River then Bear Lake by a combined score of 28-2, and Homedale blew out Teton then Timberlake by a combined score of 26-3. Fruitland beat Homedale 11-9 for the District Three championship May 10.
2A: MELBA VS. NEW PLYMOUTH
1 p.m., OK Ward Fields, Pocatello
Melba (25-6) squeaked by Wendell 9-8 in the first round, then beat Orofino 13-6 for a shot at New Plymouth in the final. New Plymouth (17-7) will seek revenge after holding a 10-4 lead over Melba in the District Three final and losing 11-10. New Plymouth breezed by Declo 9-2, then McCall-Donnelly 10-2.
PRAIRIE VS. TBD
Noon, Quad Park, Caldwell
Prairie routed Horseshoe Bend then beat Troy to claim a spot in the 1A state finals. Greenleaf lost to Troy 9-6 Friday, then beat Horseshoe Bend to stay alive and earn a second chance against Troy at 10 a.m. at Quad Park for the other title-game berth.
