How to get to the Boise memorial service for Steve Appleton

12:00am on Feb 23, 2012

Rely on the shuttle: The public memorial for longtime Micron CEO and Chairman Steve Appleton will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Boise State University’s Taco Bell Arena. Appleton died in a small-airplane crash on Feb. 3. His service is sure to draw a crowd; your best bet for getting there is to ride a shuttle.

Park Downtown: Free parking is available in dirt lots bounded by 11th and 13th streets between Front and Myrtle streets. Shuttles will pick people up starting at 8 a.m. and drop them off near arena entrance No. 3. Paid parking is available at four Downtown garages for $5 or less between 6:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.: Myrtle Street (at the Hampton Inn), City Centre (on Front Street between 8th and 9th streets), Eastman (848 W. Main St.) and Capitol Terrace (770 W. Main St.). Shuttles will run starting at 8 a.m. from the City Centre garage to arena entrance No. 2. There will be some campus parking at the Lincoln Avenue garage, 1607 University Drive, and in the East Stadium lot.

The service: Gov. Butch Otter, Boise State University President Bob Kustra and new Micron CEO Mark Durcan are among those scheduled to speak. The service is expected to last about an hour.
