Adam Lee Cook, 28, of Homedale was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to more than eight years in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney for Idaho.

Cook also must spend three years on supervised release. He pleaded guilty in April.

Caldwell police found Cook with a shotgun during a traffic stop. He is not allowed to have firearms after a 2007 felony conviction for aggravated battery.
