Eric Lee Dominguez, 34, was sentenced Monday to 5 years in prison, with one year fixed, for escaping in October from the Canyon County jail.

Dominguez was facing a lengthy sentence for abusing his two infant sons when he walked away from the jail. He had been assigned as a kitchen worker and was loading trays to an outside van.

Law enforcement spent hours trying to locate him before he was arrested at a Nampa residence on Nov. 2, according to a release from Canyon County Prosecutor Bryan Taylor.

Idaho code requires that a sentence for felony escape must be served after the sentence for the felony for which the prisoner was in custody.

In December, Dominguez was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison and as many as 38 years in prison for felony child abuse. He had pleaded guilty in August to three charges of felony injury to a child and two sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury to his twin infant sons.
