Idaho colleges: Boise State wresters split matches at National Duels

The Broncos fell to No. 7 Ohio State 26-9 but rebounded for a 25-17 victory over Chattanooga on Sunday in Stillwater, Okla. George Ivanov (157 pounds), Brent Chriswell (184) and J.T. Felix (285) swept their individual matches. Boise State returns to action Feb. 26 at the Pac-12 Championships at Taco Bell Arena.

BSU SOFTBALL: Aubray Zell pitched the Broncos to a 3-0 win at UC Davis. Zell surrendered just three hits and did not walk a batter in her second shutout of the young season. BSU (4-1) scratched out nine hits, including a two-run triple from Katie Engelbrecht.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO BASEBALL: The host Coyotes swept Whitman 8-0 and 6-2 in Caldwell. Zachary Fabricius and two relievers combined on a six-hit shutout in the first game, and Fabricius had a key two-run single to break open the second game for the C of I (5-2).

C OF I WOMEN’S TENNIS: The Coyotes were swept 9-0 at Pacific of Oregon. Balbine Umutesi was the only C of I player to win a set in the match.

C OF I SKIING: Zach Shenk placed third overall for the Coyotes at the Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference slalom qualifier at Bogus Basin. The C of I men’s team took third and the women finished fourth. British Columbia won the men’s and women’s team titles.
