The Bronco men swept the Vandals 7-0, while the women scored a 5-2 win. Both matches were at the Boas Tennis Center. Marlena Pietzuch, Sonia Klamczynska, Sandy Vo and Morgan Basil scored wins in singles play for the BSU women (5-1). Idaho got singles wins from Sophie Vickers and Beatriz Florez. In the mens match, James Meredith, Andy Bettles, Scott Sears, Garrett Patton, Nathan Sereke and Filipp Pogostkin all earned straight-set wins for BSU (7-1).
BSU TRACK: Michael Walreth ran the mens 800 meters in 1 minute, 51.23 seconds at the Boise State Team Challenge at Jacksons Track, breaking a 24-year-old school mark set in 1988 by Pete Nunez (1:51.25).
BSU SOFTBALL: The Broncos split a pair of games Saturday, defeating Nevada 7-3 and falling to Loyola Marymount 10-9 in 10 innings. BSU (3-1) got four hits each from Tara Glover, Devon Bridges and Jordan Kreiger on the day. Aubray Zell (2-0) earned the win in the first game, pitching five shutout innings against the Wolf Pack.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE BASEBALL: Charlie Gorzo set two school records and tied a GNAC record in leading the Crusaders to a sweep of Minot State. Gorzo went 5-for-9 with three home runs and nine RBIs in the opening game. The home runs and RBIs were school marks, while the nine RBIs tied the GNAC record. NNU (4-0) won the opener 25-4 and the nightcap 10-4.
NNU WOMENS BASKETBALL: The Crusaders (14-8, 8-6 GNAC) lost 69-60 to Montana State-Billings in Nampa despite Briaunna Kings 16 points and 10 rebounds. Megan Hingston also had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Chelsie Luke scored 11 points and had nine rebounds.
NNU MENS BASKETBALL: The Crusaders (11-11, 5-9 GNAC) fell 83-73 at Montana State-Billings despite getting 22 points from Anthony Golden and 13 from Jonathan Hawkins.
COLLEGE OF IDAHO TRACK: Hilary Holt posted the fastest mile (4:56.02) in the NAIA this season at the Boise State Team Challenge. Austin Basterrechea crushed his own school record with a 4,962 point total in the heptathlon.
C OF I BASEBALL: The Coyotes swept Whitman 16-3 and 9-2 in Caldwell. Todd Griffiths and Zachary Fabricius each went 4-for-6 with four RBIs in the opener, while Joshua Orr and three relievers combined on a two-hit shutout in the second game.
