Ullr Festival queen Janice Walker, from Boise and a member of the Bogus Basin Ski Club rejoices in the fact that the snow is falling at Bogus on Saturday afternoon. Ullr is the Norwegian patron saint of winter skiing and snow. Co-chairman Vicki Kuebler said that Ullr skis around the world in November and blankets the earth with snow while he is hunting. ÒSo we have a festival and celebrate and thank him for blessing us with snow,Ó Kuebler said. Traditionally everyone dresses up in Viking type clothing. ÒMy duties are to preside of this event and Ullr made it snow,Ó Walker said, Òso from here on out itÕs time for a good drink.Ó Other activities on Saturday included ring cowbells, a dozen skiers and snowboarders followed the Ullr king, Jeff Day, who was dressed in a cape and Viking horns down the mountain. Prizes were given out to those who found Urrl medallions hidden on the mountain and received gift bag in exchange. Bogus Basin Ski Club's 5th annual Ullr Fest at Bogus Basin on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Named for the Norse god of all things nordic and snow. SHAWN RAECKE — Shawn Raecke/Idaho Statesman
