The Vallivue High girls basketball team hopes to end Centennial’s recent dominance in the 5A District Three Tournament when the pair face off at 7 p.m. at Borah High for the championship.

Centennial is chasing its fourth consecutive championship and ninth in school history, while Vallivue has not played in the title game since the 2008-09 season.

The two teams split their meetings during the regular season. Centennial (18-4) won a Dec. 1 contest 65-55, and Vallivue (15-7) won 34-30 on Jan. 3.

Both teams have already secured spots in the state tournament, but this game will determine seeding. The state tournament is Feb. 16-18 at the Idaho Center in Nampa.

Centennial has won five state titles under long-time coach Emery Roy, with the most recent coming in 2006. Vallivue has won one state championship at the 4A level in 2006.
