Penguin Plunge in Meridian Feb. 18 will benefit Special Olympics Idaho

Love diving into frigid water and want to help Special Olympics Idaho? Then the Penguin Plunge is the event for you.

Join other Treasure Valley residents Saturday, Feb. 18, in taking the plunge into a pool of icy water at the Sportsman's Warehouse, 3797 E. Fairview Ave., Meridian.

Participants, who are asked to raise $75 in pledges before taking the plunge, will receive a Penguin Plunge T-shirt. The event begins at 10 a.m.

In addition to the public plunge, six local celebrities will jump into the water every hour for 24 hours. The "Power Plungers" are Tim Beaudion, Boise Police Department; Terisa Howell, Ada County Sheriff's Office; Cory Mikhals, radio personality for "Mornings with Cory" on KQFC; Donny Ankenmand of Walmart; Mike Myers, Meridian Police Department; and Lance Sellers, Boise Fire Department.
