The long debate about the interplay between science and religion comes to the Treasure Valley. Karl Giberson, one of Americas leading scholars on the creation vs. evolution controversy, delivers the lecture Are Science and Religion at War? at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Langroise Recital Hall on The College of Idaho campus in Caldwell.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Giberson has written nine books and more than 200 articles, reviews and essays. He also blogs for the Huffington Post and is a contributing editor at Books and Culture. His lecture at C of I will focus on the belief portrayed in todays popular culture that science and religion are mortal enemies. Giberson argues to the contrary, stating the rift between the two entities is driven more by National Public Radio and popular television shows than by history.
Giberson also will speak Feb. 16 on the campus of Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa.
