Two-time defending state champion Middleton aims for its fourth consecutive 4A District Three Tournament championship when the Vikings play Skyview at 8 p.m. Thursday night at Skyview High.

Both basketball teams have already secured spots in the state tournament, which runs Feb. 16-18 at Timberline High.

Middleton (22-0) has won 59 straight games against conference opponents dating back to the 2008-09 season and has an overall winning streak of 45 games.

The young Hawks (17-5) — who start three juniors and two sophomores — have come on strong in recent weeks. Skyview avenged a pair of losses to BK in last week’s district semifinals and now sets its sights on Middleton. The Vikings swept the Hawks by scores of 44-43 and 48-31 during the regular season.
