MOSCOW Kyle Barone had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Idaho to a 70-69 victory against Seattle on Tuesday night. Barone tied the game at 67-67 with a pair of free throws, and Deremy Geiger put the Vandals (13-11) up for good, 70-69, with a 3-pointer with 1:22 remaining. The Redhawks (6-14) had the last shot, but Aaron Broussard, who scored 20 points, sent a shot off the rim as the buzzer sounded. Stephen Madison and Geiger had 16 points apiece for Idaho.
BOISE STATE SOFTBALL: San Diego State (four first-place votes) and UNLV (one) are expected to lead the Mountain West this season. Those two teams were followed by Boise State, New Mexico and Colorado State. Boise State will begin its fourth season Feb. 10 at the
Aggie Stampede in Davis, Calif. The home opener is March 15 against Minnesota, and the Broncos begin their first year in the Mountain West with a home series against UNLV on April 13-15.
