SUPER BOWL?

If you’re looking for a new place to watch the Super Bowl on Feb. 5, consider Time Out Sports Pub and Restaurant, 7751 W. Spectrum St., Boise.

It opened over the summer in the former Ruby River Steakhouse space across from the Boise Spectrum.

Boise-based owner Benone Halinga wanted to open a sports-focused restaurant that put as much emphasis on food as it did on sports.

You’ll find 29 large-screen TVs that show most of the pro sports packages throughout the restaurant, which has an intimate feel with booths and tables.

“It’s not just an open space,” says general manager Neil Newman. “I think you can come for the restaurant, or you can come in for the game. Either way you’ll be happy with both.”

You’ll find 16 beers on tap, 47 total, plus wine and a full bar.

The menu is a mix of traditional pub fare with a twist, like the Idaho Nachos, house cut and fried potato chips topped with pulled pork, cheese, jalapeno, tomato, onion and sour cream ($9.99).

Everything is handmade with fresh ingredients, Newman says. It’s also family- friendly, including a video arcade.

It’s open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays. Phone: 322-1745. Online: TimeOut4Boise.com.

DINE OUT TO HELP

Caldwell resident Nick Madril needs a life-saving kidney transplant. He was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, a disease causing too much protein to build up in his kidneys.

You can help Madril by getting some Chinese at Panda Express, 5210 Cleveland Blvd., on Feb. 3 and 4. Madril is being helped by the National Foundation for Transplants.

When diners present a flyer that you can download at IdahoStatesman.com, the restaurant will donate 20 percent of the bill to NFT to help Madril.
