HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS (19)

CB Chaz Anderson, 5-10, 164, Loyola HS (Los Angeles): Senior year named second-team all-state and first-team All-Serra League. Registered 22 tackles and a pass breakup on defense. Offensively, caught 14 passes for 356 yards.

OL Travis Averill, 6-4, 270, Servite HS (Anaheim, Calif.): Senior year named Trinity League Offensive Lineman of the Year. Also garnered first-team all-league, first-team All-CIF, first-team all-county and second-team all-state honors.

OL Steven Baggett, 6-3, 255, Martin HS (Arlington, Texas): Started 38 games as a varsity player. Named first-team all-area and first-team all-district as a senior.

DE/LB Darien Barrett, 6-3, 215, Inglewood HS (Inglewood, Calif.): Named first-team All-Ocean League as a senior. Recorded 42 tackles, including 10 sacks.

LB Chris Collins, 6-1, 208, Santa Monica HS (Santa Monica, Calif.): Three-year starter was named the Ocean League MVP and earned first-team All-CIF Southern Section Western Division as a senior. Recorded 124 tackles and 15 sacks in 2011.

WR D.J. Dean, 6-1, 180, Eagle HS (Eagle): Named 5A Southern Idaho Conference Player of the Year in 2011. Received All-Idaho honors as a defensive back and was named Eagle’s MVP as a senior. Caught 56 passes for 801 yards and five TDs and rushed for 121 yards in 2011. On defense, recorded 77 tackles, six interceptions and two forced fumbles.

CB Donte Deayon, 5-9, 155, Summit HS (Fontana, Calif.): Senior season garnered Sunkist League MVP and All-CIF MVP honors. Also named first-team all-state and all-county. Recorded 92 tackles and five interceptions, recovered two fumbles and blocked two punts as a senior. Also recorded 11 interceptions as a junior and eight interceptions as a sophomore. Completed his career as the Inland Empire record holder for career interceptions. Rushed for 1,266 yards and 15 touchdowns, and caught 27 passes for 632 yards and 11 touchdowns, as a senior.

RB Devan Demas, 5-9, 176, Cypress Creek HS (Houston): Named first-team all-district after accumulating 2,114 all-purpose yards and 26 total touchdowns. Picked up 901 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns in just five games during his junior season.

RB Jack Fields, 5-10, 196, Americas HS (El Paso, Texas): Three-year starter. Named team’s offensive MVP each time. Rushed for 960 yards and nine TDs in 2009, 1,698 yards and 18 TDs in 2010 and 2,478 yards and 25 TDs in 2011. Was named El Paso Times Most Valuable Player as a senior and second-team all-state.

S Chanceller James, 6-2, 190, Steele Canyon HS (Spring Valley, Calif.): Senior year named All-Grossmont League first team. Recorded 80 tackles and five interceptions. As a junior, registered 70 tackles, seven forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and three interceptions.

DE Sam McCaskill, 6-3, 230, Sheldon HS (Eugene, Ore.): Led Oregon as a senior with 115 tackles en route to first-team all-Class 6A pick at defensive end/center. Also led the state in sacks with 16. Named the Southwest Conference’s defensive player of the year. As a junior, made 110 tackles and led the state in sacks with 12.5.

FB Armand Nance, 6-2, 245, Spring Dekaney HS (Houston): Helped team to 2011 5A Division 2 state championship and was named first-team all-state.

*QB Nick Patti, 5-11, 195, Dr. Phillips HS (Orlando, Fla.): Graduated from high school early and enrolled at BSU in January. Played in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl in Phoenix last month and was among 24 QBs invited to the Elite 11 camp prior to senior season. Compiled a 34-4 record as a high school starter. Set his school’s career records for completions (374), yards (5,701), TD passes (66) and completion percentage (67 percent). Named 8A Florida Player of the Year following his senior season. As a senior, threw for 2,114 yards and 23 touchdowns, and rushed for 626 yards and seven touchdowns.

LB Andrew Pint, 6-1, 220, Valor Christian HS (Highlands Ranch, Colo.): Senior year named all-state after recording 85 tackles. Junior year picked up 118 tackles en route to all-state honors. Sophomore year named all-state and league MVP following a 95-tackle campaign. Freshman year registered 77 tackles.

N/LB Christopher Santini, 6-1, 208, Leland HS (San Jose, Calif.): As a senior registered 99 tackles (72 unassisted), four sacks and two blocked field goals. Also recorded five pass breakups, recovered four fumbles and made a safety. Received all-state and first-team all-county honors at linebacker as a senior. Rushed for 801 yards and scored 16 TDs as a senior.

K/P Sean Wale, 6-2, 175, La Habra HS (Whittier, Calif.): Member of Chris Sailer Kicking Top 12 both his sophomore and junior seasons. Senior year named first-team all-area, first-team All-CIF and first-team all-county. Was 9-of-12 on field goals, including a long of 52, en route to 84 points scored. Averaged 47.5 yards per punt. As a junior, was 8-for-11 on field goals. Sophomore year went 9-of-10 on field goals.

LB Ben Weaver, 6-1, 225, Klein HS (Klein, Texas): Earned first-team all-district honors after senior and junior seasons. Finished senior year with 111 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. Junior year posted 87 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and one interception.

WR Shane Williams-Rhodes, 5-7, 160, Klein Collins HS (Spring, Texas): As a senior was named first-team all-district at wide receiver and returner. Team captain and MVP carried 53 times for 327 yards and eight TDs and caught 67 passes for 1,057 yards and 11 TDs. Junior year was named district offensive MVP and first-team all-district. Squad’s MVP rushed 80 times for 640 yards and 11 TDs and caught 43 passes for 877 yards and nine TDs.

OG Mario Yakoo, 6-4, 320, Steele Canyon HS (San Diego): Senior year garnered All-Grossmont League first-team honors, in addition to being named first-team All-CIF San Diego County.

GRAYSHIRTS FROM 2011 (3)

*LB Tyler Gray, 6-3, 215, Templeton HS (Templeton, Calif.): Earned CalHiSports All-State First Team honors following his senior season (2010), in addition to being named All-Los Padres League, All-CIF Southern Section and Tribune All-San Luis Obispo County. Recorded 143 tackles and five sacks. Picked up more than 1,600 yards and 25 touchdowns as a running back.

*DT Elliot Hoyte, 6-4, 275, Tavistock, England: Played club football for the Bristol Aztecs of the British American Football National League. Named first-team All-Europe at defensive end. Also played basketball and rugby in high school.

*TE Hayden Plinke, 6-4, 240, Glencoe HS (Hillsboro, Ore.): Initially signed with the Broncos in February 2011. An honorable mention all-state performer as a senior. Also named first-team all-conference as a senior and second-team all-conference as a junior.

JUNIOR COLLEGE TRANSFERS (2)

*DE Demarcus Lawrence, 6-4, 248, so., Butler CC (Aiken, S.C.): Signed national letter of intent in December. Earned first-team JC Gridwire and second-team NJCAA All-America honors at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas. Finished with 66 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Has three years to play three seasons.

*TE Connor Peters, 6-4, 245, so., Laney College (Antioch, Calif.): Signed national letter of intent in December. Caught 13 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns in 2011, his only season at Laney College. Has four years to play three seasons.
