Former tennis champion Mats Wilanders 81-acre estate near Sun Valley is back on the market.
The home's asking price has been reduced to $5.9 million, said Stephanie Reed, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties. Its one of the most expensive we have listed, Reed said.
The home was originally listed in June 2008 for $8.5 million, but was taken off the market about a year later when it didnt sell.
Wilander is a former No. 1 world tennis champion, winning seven grand slam titles for singles and one for doubles. He is the owner of Wilander on Wheels, which runs tennis clinics.
The Wilanders bought the property, which is surrounded by U.S. Forest Service land, in 1997 after discovering that the air in Sun Valley helped their sons skin condition.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the couple bought the estate for about $1.8 million and are selling it to downsize as their children go off to college.
The estate has a 10,500-square-foot home as well as a guesthouse, caretaker's residence, pool and hot tub, Reed said.
The property has two creeks running through it and is 16 miles from the airport and the Sun Valley resort's ski lifts.
Reed said property prices in the area have stabilized after falling and as bank-owned properties have been sold off in Sun Valley and Ketchum. For agents, the market is becoming more consistent as buyers look for deals, she said.
Selling an expensive property like Wilanders will depend on the right buyer coming along, Reed said.
Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties feeds information about high-end properties through publications like the Wall Street Journal to reach affluent buyers in big markets.
