Look out, Whole Foods: Another natural foods store coming to Boise

Posted: 12:00am on Jan 27, 2012

It’s called Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, the first Idaho store in a Colorado-based grocery chain that focuses on “natural, organic and affordably priced” products. The 20,526-square-foot store will open Feb. 28 at 1195 N. Milwaukee St.

The family-owned company had been eyeing Boise for a while. “Boise’s community is an excellent fit,” said Kemper Isely, co-president. “Boise residents are highly educated. They’ve also got a very strong commitment to ... health.”

What does it sell? USDA-certified organic produce and meat from animals raised without antibiotics and hormones. Nothing made with artificial sweeteners, colors, synthetic flavor, bleached flour or hydrogenated oils. It also doesn’t use paper or plastic; it’s BYOB (bring your own bag).

Are they hiring? Yes. The store will open with 20 employees, expanding later to 50. Go to naturalgrocers.com to apply.
