The Governor's House, also called Idaho House, was once the home of JR Simplot. The 7,370-square-foot home that sits on top of Simplot Hill and overlooks north Boise was open for public tours Friday. The house was donated to the state in 2005 by Jack and Esther Simplot to be a residence for future governors, and then renovated in 2009. Friday was the first official day the public could take a peek inside. SHAWN RAECKE — Shawn Raecke / Idaho Statesman
