Location: 1320 E. Warm Springs Ave., Boise

Price: $2.2 million

It’s rare to find a home of this distinction on the market, says Realtor Nina Cadwell. Most stay in the family for decades, and in this case, for close to a century.

Beloved Boise benefactor Jane Falk Oppenheimer grew up and lived most of her life in this stylish historic home with lush gardens, swimming pool and attached two-car garage — a feature progressive for its day.

Noted Spokane architect Kirtland Cutter designed it in 1922 for Oppenheimer’s parents, Leo J. Falk and Helen Friendly Falk. He used a blend of Italian and Spanish revival styles marked by stuccoed walls, tile roofs, interior arches, wrought iron embellishments, balconies and French doors that open onto stone patios.

Oppenheimer, who died in 2010, and her husband Arthur, who died in 2000, took over the residence in the 1950s and raised their four children there. There are five bedrooms and three full baths upstairs and two half-baths downstairs. The house and grounds have been beautifully maintained and speak to a relaxed, elegant lifestyle.

Falk, who owned Falk’s Department Store in Boise, also built the Egyptian Theatre and the Owyhee Plaza. Those two buildings as well as the Falk-Oppenheimer home are on the National Register of Historic Places.
