Five residents of Canyon Countys District 10 have applied to fill the remaining 14 months of Rep. Pat Takasugis term, and on Wednesday night that districts GOP Central Committee chairs will choose finalists to forward to Gov. Butch Otter.
The deadline for applications was Monday night, but District 10 Rep. Darrell Bolz said its possible although not likely that additional names could be nominated at Wednesdays meeting.
Takasugi, first elected to District 10s House Seat A in 2008, died Nov. 6 after a battle with appendix cancer.
The five applicants, all District 10 residents, are: Gayle Batt of Wilder, who filled in for Takasugi during the 2011 legislative session; Scott Syme of Wilder; Tom Tingey of Caldwell; Kent Marmon of Caldwell; and Jim Rice of Caldwell.
Otter will select one of the finalists to complete Takasugis term, which continues through 2012.
Wednesdays meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the public meeting room of the Canyon County Courthouse, 1115 Albany St., Caldwell.
