The Rock of Honor Memorial, a monument to honor the fallen veterans of Meridian killed in battle since Idaho statehood, will be unveiled in a dedication ceremony on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park, at Fairview Avenue and Eagle Road in Meridian. Attendees should enter Kleiner Park from Records Avenue and park in the paved lots.

The dedication ceremony will include speakers from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, city of Meridian and Kleiner Park Trust. The Meridian Firefighters Pipes and Drums will perform, and the 190th Fighter Squadron will fly over.

“The Rock of Honor is our community’s way to celebrate our veterans from Meridian," said Mayor Tammy de Weerd. "It is with great honor that we dedicate this memorial to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.”

The Rock of Honor is a joint venture of the American Legion, VFW, City of Meridian and Kleiner Park Trust. It is the brainchild of former Meridian VFW Commander and WWII Navy Veteran John H. Burns. For information, visit: http://www.rockofhonor.com.
