CradlePoint, a Boise provider of 4G/3G network routers and systems for businesses and mobile customers, named George Mulhern as chief executive officer Thursday.
Pat Sewall, founder and former CEO, has been named chief technology officer and will maintain a leadership position at CradlePoint and on the board. Sewall referred questions about the changes to a company spokeswoman, who was unreachable for comment.
Mulhern has 25 years of experience in business-to-business technology and mobile broadband solutions, including 20 years at Hewlett Packard. Most recently, Mulhern was a general partner with Highway 12 Ventures, a Boise venture capital fund serving the Northwest.
"George was an obvious choice to lead CradlePoint given his track record of guiding successful technology enterprise teams at HP and nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit with a variety of startups at Highway 12, said Gerry Langeler, board director of CradlePoint, in a news release. His vast experience combined with his passion for the CradlePoint business are integral to the role and his collaborative, approachable leadership style will be welcomed by employees, customers, partners and investors."
At HP, Mulhern had responsibility for hardware, software and services businesses that ranged in size from several million dollars to multi-billions of dollars of annual revenue. He led businesses with locations in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Mulherns last position with HP was senior vice president, leading the LaserJet Global Business Unit.
Mulhern serves on McKinsey & Co.s Advisory Board for its technology practice and the Idaho Technology Council Board of Directors. He is an adviser and guest lecturer at Boise State University. He also served on the Idaho Governors Science and Technology Advisory Council.
I have been actively involved in Boises technology community for many years," Mulhern said. "The CradlePoint team has done an exceptional job of building a leadership position in the emerging 3G/4G network router market. This is a market that is poised for tremendous growth, and I am very excited to be able to help lead this company through its next stages of growth and success.
