The Boise Hawks have struggled on the road all season, and Tuesday night was no exception.

The Hawks fell 9-1 to Tri-City in Game 2 of their East Divisional playoff series in Paco, Wash., giving the Dust Devils the Northwest League East Division pennant.

After losing Game 1 to Tri-City 6-0 on Monday night in Boise, the Hawks were in a must-win situation as the series shifted to Tri-City.

But Boise’s offense didn’t come through.

Tri-City scored its nine runs on 13 hits, while Boise was limited to seven hits.

Down 5-1, the Hawks loaded the bases in the seventh inning with two outs, and Ryan Cuneo crushed a ball just foul that would have tied the game. He then flied out, ending the rally.

Boise went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position in the series.

Boise starter Joseph Zeller was lit up for six hits and five runs in 3[0xb7] innings of work and took the loss.

The Hawks finished the season 10-29 on the road, 1-6 at Tri-City.

The Dust Devils advance to face the winner of the West Divisional series between Vancouver and Eugene, which plays Game 3 on Wednesday. This is Tri-City’s third finals appearance in five years.
