Fire crews estimate that the range fire at the Idaho National Laboratory that threatened several nuclear facilities overnight is 3 miles from the nearest building. It has burned about 36,000 acres.
Firefighters have found damaged power poles but there has been no loss of power at the lab 38 miles east of Idaho Falls.
There are 30 INL firefighters and 42 Bureau of Land Management firefighters on the scene, along with two BLM bulldozers, five INL bulldozers, two water tenders and one fuel truck. BLM aircraft have flown several air drops on the fire.
