Idaho Statesman names new publisher

Mike Jung, publisher of the Santa Cruz Sentinel, was named publisher of the Idaho Statesman Friday. Jung, 53, will begin his new job on Aug. 22.

Jung grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and has a degree in journalism from San Jose State University. He has worked for the San Jose Mercury News, Florida Today, the Akron Beacon Journal in Ohio and the Long Beach Press-Telegram in California.

At Santa Cruz, which is owned by Media News Group, Jung helped increase the paper’s print and digital audience.
