In honor of National Anti-Boredom Month we decided to make

'anti boredom' kits

Put each 'kit' in a brown paper bag and then label them 1-8. Each time a kid is bored they can go grab a bag. Oh, they look so cute and so 'secretive' in their brown bags just waiting to cure their ailment! Just wait...I bet you have most of the stuff in your house already.

Just a thought...I think this would make a super fun gift for a mom who just had a baby. Why? For the older kids to be entertained while mom rested. Hey, it would take out some of the guilt for putting the older kids in front of the TV while mom and baby rested!

I tried to make this post simple, so this post will be just the kits with links to the how to's. So here we go!

#1 Paper Fortune Teller (Starting with something easy to assemble!)

Items to put in bag:

Instructions

1. Follow the instructions found on the printable. (E.A.S.Y. and it gave my kids hours of productive fun! Thanks again, Melissa!!!)

#2 Magic Star Here's how to do it: Great Magic Trick

• Flat toothpicks
• Water Bottle
• Paper Clip

1. Unfold paper clip and poke a hole into the top of the lid of the water bottle.
2. Break 5 toothpicks in half.
3. Place the broken sides of the toothpicks together. They should almost look like a circle.
4. Use your water bottle and place a drop of water into the broken parts of the toothpicks.
5. Keep adding drops until the toothpicks move and become a star!

#3 Popsicle Harmonica: From Mya*Made

• 3 rubber bands: 1 wide, 2 small
• two popsicle sticks
• two pieces of sturdy paper 3/4 inch
• tape

Instructions:

1. Get your stuff out!
2. Lay one stick on top of the other with the paper strips towards the sides of the stick.
3. Fold over each piece of paper.
4. Secure paper with a little tape. Tape shouldn't touch the sticks at all.
5. Carefully slip out the bottom stick.
6. Stretch the longer rubber band around the length of the top stick. Place the bottom stick directly under it and secure them both with the two smaller rubber bands.

Done! Blow and make some music!

#4 Bubble Blowing Contest

Items needed:

• Measuring stick (An 8 inch white piece of paper that the kids mark on to replicate a measureing stick.
• Pack of bubble gum

Instructions:

1. Give everyone a piece of gum
2. Have them blow a bubble
3. Measure from their lips to the end of the bubble with the measuring stick.
4. Mark on the measuring stick how big the bubble grew!
5. The biggest bubble blower is the winner

#5 Magic Potion Great Magic Trick

• Jar of magic powder
• Jar of magic water
• Water
• 2 Cups

Instructions:

1. Pour Magic ‘water’ into one of the cups
2. Fill that same container with regular water and put into the other cup (one cup should have water and one should have the magic water).
3. Pour a little of the magic powder into each of the cups
4. …and WATCH!

Make sure you have paper towels…just in case!!!

I got the jars in sets of 8 at the dollar store.

#6 Faded Star

Items Needed:

• Construction Paper
• Black paper
• Scissors (Not found in the bag)

Instructions:

1. Cut a design out of the black paper (a star, heart, whatever)
2. Place on top of construction paper
3. Place in front of a window for 3 days.
4. Remove the black paper and you’ve got a faded shape!

#7 Yo-Yo Balloons Jessica from Zakka-Life

• Balloons
• Large Thick Rubber Bands

Instructions:

1. Fill the water balloon with water until it's roughly the size of a golf ball.
2. Fill with air until the balloon is the size of an orange.
3. Tie shut.
4. Tie Large rubber band onto the balloon.

#8 Family Dinner Questions

Items needed in bag:

• Print out some of the Family Dinner Questions

1. Cut out each question and put in the bag.
2. Pull out questions each night at dinner and see if your family can guess!
