Boise State nearing football season-ticket sales record

The Boise State football program likely will break the school record for season-ticket sales during its first season in the Mountain West.

Boise State sold a record 22,996 tickets last year and needs to sell fewer than 250 to reach that total for this year, ticket manager Anita Guerricabeitia said. “And we’re selling every day,” she said.

The renewal rate was about 90 percent, she said. All fans on the waiting list have been contacted.

Prices increased by an average of 5 percent this year. Memberships in the Bronco Athletic Association, which is required for tickets in the core of the stadium, also increased.

Adult season-ticket prices range from $212 to $364. All price categories, including family plans, are still available at 426-4737.

Other ticket notes:

- Boise State has sold its allotment of 7,500 tickets for the Sept. 3 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game against Georgia, making the game a sellout. Tickets were made available to season-ticket holders first. About 500 tickets went on sale to the general public last week and were gone in 14 minutes, Guerricabeitia said.

Georgia has sold its 53,000 tickets.

The rest of the tickets in the 71,959-seat Georgia Dome in Atlanta went to game organizers. Those tickets won’t be sold publicly.

- Individual-game tickets go on sale Sept. 14. The home opener is Sept. 24 against Tulsa. Adult tickets range from $32 to $75, depending on the game and seat location.

Boise State has three price categories based on opponent this year — TCU is the most expensive, Air Force and Nevada are in the middle and Tulsa, Wyoming and New Mexico are in the cheapest category.

TCU tickets in the core of the stadium will be $75. But, as has been the case in recent years, there probably won’t be many tickets available to the public for the premier home game. In addition to the season tickets, students get 5,000 tickets, TCU gets 1,800 and season-ticket holders get the first shot at buying what’s left.

- Boise State’s tickets to road games other than Georgia are on sale through the ticket office. The school has nearly sold out of its 2,000 tickets to the San Diego State game and has received strong interest in its 4,000 tickets to the UNLV game.

- This was the first major renewal year for the Stueckle Sky Center seats. More than 30 percent of the contracts expired after the first three years. All of the suite leases were renewed, a couple loge boxes opened up and were quickly refilled and all but 70 club seats have been leased, said Curt Apsey, senior associate athletic director for advancement.

Club seats cost $2,300 each. Each pair of seats includes a reserved parking pass in the stadium lot. Fans can call 426-2570 if they’re interested.

Renewals were for a minimum of three years. Boise State also has five- and 10-year leases, so the next round of renewals will be in 2013.

“The people are pretty happy up there,” Apsey said.

SOFTBALL GAME IS SATURDAY

The Broncos will hold their fourth annual softball challenge at Memorial Stadium. Proceeds benefit The First Tee of Idaho golf program.

Gates open at 5 p.m., the home run derby is at 6 p.m. and the game between the offense and defense is at 6:45 p.m. Players will sign autographs afterward.

Tickets cost $5 or $20 for a family (two adults and up to six children). They’re available at the Boise Hawks box office or by calling 322-5000.

KELLEN MOORE TO WED

Star quarterback Kellen Moore will marry high school sweetheart Julie Wilson on July 23 in Park City, Utah, he confirmed Thursday. The couple is from Prosser, Wash.

Moore won’t have much time to celebrate. He is scheduled to attend the Mountain West media preview July 26-27 in Las Vegas.
